09/07/2009 There are two days you should not worryThere are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension. One of these days is Yesterday, with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back Yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed; we cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone. The other day we should not worry about is Tomorrow, with its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise, and poor performance. Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds; but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is as yet unborn. This leaves only one day: Today. Anyone can fight the battles of just one day. It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternities - Yesterday and Tomorrow - that we break down. It is not the experience of Today that drives us mad, it is remorse and bitterness for something which happened Yesterday and the dread of what Tomorrow may bring. Let us, therefore, live this one full Today. It also is difficult to be depressed and active at the same time. So get active! Make today your best day ever! 02/04/2009 Hot Chocolate--Inspirational StoriesHot Chocolate--Inspirational StoriesA group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired. During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives. Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups - porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate. 27/11/2008 try new thingsRegularly try new things. This is what keeps the spice of life going! Try new foods, go to new places, and make new friends. Dear Ken,
You may not fully realize it but you have been a mentor to me in significant ways, more than you know.
Going on, I am looking forward to also dream and do meaningful things together with you in the days / weeks / years ahead.
Your friend,
YC

On top of the hand written note, a few lines in print:
To the person who taught me that everyone deserves a DREAM.
To my mentor who taught me that every dream must have a PLAN.
And to my friend who looked at the dream and the plan and said "Let's Do It".
I hereby register my greatest heartfelt appreciation. Thank you very much for giving me a turning point in my life and my life is never the same again!!!
Over the years, there were so many people who had made significant impacts to my life, and likewise, I had impacted many, but without realizing how significance it had been... 04/09/2008 I want to knowIt doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive. It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life’s betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain! I want to know if you can sit with pain, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it. I want to know if you can be with joy, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human. It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul; if you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy. I want to know if you can see beauty even when it’s not pretty, every day, and if you can source your own life from its presence. I want to know if you can live with failure, and still stand on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, ‘Yes!’ It doesn’t interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up, after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the family. It doesn’t interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back. It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away. I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments. 10/08/2008 爱一个人愛 一 個 人 |
